The work of four separate bands, brought together in 2007 consiting of Welle: Erdball, Die Perlen, Sonnenbrandt and Hertzinfarkt. After taking autographs and playing games at the Gothic Family.net tent after their midday performance at Amphi Festival 2011, the two members of ‘Die Perlen’ Kaija Hah and Ferdinand Ess come to tell Neuwelt readers a bit more about the group. Katja Hah, Ferdinand Ess.

Describe to us, what do all the bands that make Die Funkhausgruppe do? Ferdinand: Well we’ve been playing at festivals together, but before that in 2007 we created a song together with Welle: Erdball, which has been released as a maxi-CD by Welle: Erdball "Ich bin aus Plastik" and also on a separate album by us "Szenenwechsel". So there was the idea to just hang around for a weekend and Honey asked us to bring instruments and so we started making different songs.

So how many real members are there in this group? Katja: We are 12 members and...

Is the commodore-64 still a main part? Katja: The commodore 64 is only a part; it’s also guitar and synthesisers. We’ve used it for a few songs.

What was the real topic that brought about the name Monopoly? The title just really came from the song which is just abstract about the game board and there is probably some kind of political message.

Could the same be said about your music video Die Physiker? Katja: It was act.
Ferdinand: I just decided to write the song that sounded a bit like Welle: Erdball and Honey decided to write the lyrics and he was inspired by a theatre or TV show, which is about mad engineers who are afraid of their discoveries. Somehow they realise that their discoveries maybe dangerous for humanity so it’s the same the idea in the song. And the video tells the same idea as the song.

Will you guys be continuing to do some more work here, or is it back to your own projects? Is that a question? We may have another CD in us. We never played on stage as group until today. There are just whispers between the groups at this stage, whether we’ll carry on.

How did you find playing at Amphi? Well before it was in a small group that we played, so for us it was very brilliant to be with everyone on stage.

Can touring be seen? I think as twelve people that says enough, as we are from all over the country so to get to one place at one time is a big problem, so is practice for twelve people. Honestly I think never before have there been all of us together for that purpose.

So when it came to recording the music how was that done? We met in Hamburg so then there was about 8 or nine people, then we met in Hannover about 10 people. So everybody was everywhere somehow.

Infos: Die Funkhausgruppe ist eine Künstlergemeinschaft die aktuell aus den vier Musikbands Hertzinfarkt, Sonnenbrandt, Die Perlen und Welle: Erdball besteht. Der Grundstein zu dieser Künstlerformation wurde auf dem HCT 2007 bei Sonneberg/Thüringen, dem offiziellen Hörerclubtreffen von Welle: Erdball, bei dem auch alle vier Bands auf der Bühne standen, gelegt. Schon Ende 2007 trafen sich Die Perlen und Welle: Erdball im Funkhaus, dem Tonstudio von Welle: Erdball und nahmen das Stück "Wir hören mit" zusammen auf. Für dieses Stück wurden nicht nur die Texte, sondern auch das Arrangement, die Komposition und die Instrumentierung unter den Künstlern beider Bands aufgeteilt. Das Lied wurde 2008 in verschiedenen Versionen auf dem Album "Szenenwechsel" von Die Perlen, so wie auf der Maxi-CD "Ich bin aus Plastik" von Welle: Erdball veröffentlicht. Nach weiteren Treffen, bei denen auch Hertzinfarkt und Sonnenbrandt komplett teilnahmen, entstanden Lieder, die auch wieder von allen Band gemeinsam erschaffen wurden.

Während Honey (welle: erdball) z.B. auf einer Dr. Böhm-Böhmat78 mit Herrn Brandt (Sonnenbrandt) an der Gitarre erste Sequenzen einspielten, wurden im Garten Texte geschrieben und im Nebenraum bereiteten Ferdinand Ess (Die Perlen) und Henne: Schwertwal (Hertzinfarkt) mit Schlagzeug und analogem Synthesizer schon weitere Stücke vor. Man traf sich in Hamburg, Nürnberg, Braunschweig und im Funkhausstudio und so entstand die komplette CD "MONO-POLY" als einzigartiges Album aus einer wirklichen Künstler-Symbiose. In Mitten der Aufnahmen fand man sogar noch die Zeit einen Video-Clip zu dem Stück "Die Physiker" zu drehen, welcher auch auf dem Album als CDROM-Track enthalten ist. Analoge Klänge, punkige Gitarren-Riffs, synthetische Roboterstimmen, harte Schlagzeug-Soli und viele Facetten der einzelnen Bands machen aus diesem Werk, gepaart mit deutschen Texten und den Stimmen von fast allen Beteiligten, einen verspäteten Meilienstein der Neuen Deutschen Welle- Kultur. Die wirkliche N.D.W.! Zur Veröffentlichung von "MONO-POLY" spielt Die Funkhausgruppe auf dem Amphie-Festival am 17.07.2011 in Tanzbrunnen in Köln. Auch hier werden alle vier Bands gemeinsam auf der Bühne stehen. Am 17.06.2011 erscheint die CD "MONO-POLY" mit über einem Dutzend von elektronischen Liedern, einem aufwendigen Cover, viel Bonusmaterial und dem Video-Clip "Die Physiker" bei dem S.P.V.- Label Synthetic Symphony.

Schon bei dem ersten Treffen wurde nach dem kreativen Prozess um den Funkhausgruppen- Wanderpokal im Bowling-Spiel tuniert, welcher sich 1 Jahr in den Händen von den Perlen befand und aktuell und durch Welle: Erdball gewonnen im Funkhaus steht. So mit ist Die Funkhausgruppe die wahrscheinlich einzige Formation aus vier Musikbands des Genres, mit insgesamt 12 Mitgliedern, die über guten Ideen und neben vollgekifften Übungsräumen hinaus, es wirklich zusammen geschafft hat, ein komplettes Album zusammen zu produzieren!
