Hello Bruno...how are you?
Hi Dani. I'm great, thanks! Enjoying some well deserved vacations right now.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself...
I live in Lisbon, Portugal. I'm married and father of two beautiful girls. I split my professional life in two areas: videogames development and music. I'm the founder of Pray Silence Productions and Pray Silence Records. Pray Silence Productions manages our social network PraySilence.Org and organizes the upcoming Pray Silence Festival. Pray Silence Records is an indie record label specialized in vinyl releases. We will release our first compilation album in December called "Pray Silence Records Sampler Vol.01" with bands like Attrition, Two Witches, Hoyland, The Realm, Sinmasters and many more.
If you should describe the music scene in general in Portugal what would you say?
Talking about the music scene in general I think it's going quite well. There are a lot of gigs happening throughout the year and during the summer we have several festivals that attract more than 20000 people a day. If we go to the gothic/dark alternative scene, things are going ok. Lisbon and Porto both of the cities host gothic nights and we have high skilled DJs. The gothic gigs (like Clan of Xymox, the last ones who played here) are able to attract people from all the country which is good.
Is it the first time that such a festival that you're planning for 2011 takes place Portugal or have there been similar ones?
A festival under the gothic/dark alternative umbrella with the dimension of Pray Silence Festival is the first time. However there has always existed smaller festivals and gigs organized by promoters with a huge passion for the scene.
Which are your main criterias for the bands and DJs who are playing/DJing at the festival?
We tried to balance well established bands with new talents that are uprising in the international gothic scene. We still haven't closed the line-up but I think that as it is right now it already shows this strategy.
... When was the idea Pray Silence Festival 2011 born?
The idea for the Festival was born almost immediately after PraySilence.Org started. The first thing that was agreed was that the festival would be in Portugal.
Which was the first band who confirmed to play at the festival?
The first band that I got confirmed was Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio.
Can you tell us a bit about the festival location itself?
The location of the festival will be unveiled in October. Until then, it's a secret ;)
What can we expect at the festival?
The Festival more than only a music festival will be a cultural event. We will have a fantastic line-up of bands, fashion shows, gothic picnics, walks, poetry sessions, after hours parties... It will be three fantastic days without doubt. And do not forget the warm-up parties that will take place in the four months before the festival. Right now we have parties confirmed in Portugal, Spain, France, UK, Germany, USA, Singapore and Japan.
There are a lot of great bands already announced on your homepage. What is going to be your personal highlight?
All the bands will be my personal highlight.
How many visitors do you expect?
We are expecting about 3000 people to attend the event.
Where can we find all neccessary infos about the festival like accomodation, ticket sale (when is the ticket sale going to start?), press contacts...etc...
All that information will be available on the festival website in October. For press contacts you can contact us directly at festival@praysilence.org
A few words for our readers...
We hope to see you next year in Portugal. The excitement is growing and all the staff is working to make it an event that you do not want to miss. So, in the beginning of August next year start crimping your hair, put some make-up on and come to Portugal!
Thank you Bruno...Dani
