Winter time and especially the Christmas season have been inspiring musicians of all eras around the globe. Enter SPECTRA*paris. Just barely half a year after Elena Alice Fossi’s latest outing “License To Kill”, the charismatic Kirlian-Camera-singer embarks on a very special journey exploring the cold season’s atmosphere and her softer side. Framed by two otherworldly renditions of “Silent Night”, a Christmas classic if ever there was one, SPECTRA*paris envelop us in a climate of pure magic, infused by the spirit of the enchanted heavens, saints and ghosts, invisible devils and a sense of the sacred, but also allowing disquieting moments to sneak in every once in a while. As far removed from the cringe-inducing kitsch that floods the record dealers’ shelves at the end of every year as can be, this little sonic gem not only uncovers a previously unknown side of the band but is also THE definitive sound track for all those who have always longed to invoke a Christmas spirit of a different kind. The French Industrial rockers DEXY CORP_ suprise with their new album "Uchronopolis", a straight diesel punk concept album. Taking its roots from books and movies such as 1984, V for Vendetta, Dark City or Brazil, UCHRONOPOLIS takes us through the streets of a mystical city where different factions are struggling for control while a strange humanoid creature is at war to find the secret of its humanity. Puppeteering its characters in the city just as in Voltaire's Candide, DEXY CORP_ are attacking the codes and thoughts processes from totalitarian societies in order to question the place of the individual in our post modern global society. The Story: "In the gigantic State City of Uchronopolis, Ysokras Salocin and the Nova Corp rule the 13 districts of pipes and steam with a fist full of steel. An anti- governmental group of activists called the Black Flash and its mysterious leader Nero are the only ones to rise against the dictatorship, ignoring the curfews and restrictions imposed on entertainment and freedom of speech. Feeling the wind turning a few decades ago, a brilliant philosopher and achieved scientist submitted a solution to the social struggles based on his research in the cybernetic field. He then was considered a dangerous man and vanished in the desert where he built a massive bunker lab." Through out this original story, the band keeps on hammering its very own blend of cyberpunk metal but now combines this sound with diesel punk ambiant works! Darker than the previous one, this album will take you into a role playing game and push you to take a major decision just as Key will have to do: support the Nova Corp, the powerful entity from Uchronopolis driven by Ysokras Salocin or join Tyler in the clandestine resistance with the Black Flash and Nero, their mysterious leader! When boys turn into men, they grow up. When Stoneman grows up, they are "human hater". With their third, raw record full of yearning darkness, the No. 1 dark metal band of Switzerland has found its way back into the world of heavy sounds. After starting the band in 2004, the four boys were driven by fast success and greed, and forgot to rely on their roots. A three-year creative break brought them back to their origin. Large tours around Europe with bands like the Deathstars, Impaled Nazarene, Xandria and Wednesday13 showed them, who they really were, who they wanted to be and especially who not. The four musicians, all of them grown up in wealthy, modest Switzerland, were definitely not made to follow the rules of their environment, and when they started the band, trouble was predicted. In the dark a star is shining strongly. After their critically acclaimed debut-EP from 2005 and the remix-album "Folge mir" from 2008 Pitch Black Inc. are back with new material in full length-format. "Alles ist gesagt" is a misleading title of course. Because the Schanz/Bernstein-duo still has a lot to say especially musically. Clearly their roots are in the Electro-genre. In addition to that they take their time working on sounds you have to explore with every new listen, based on a rhythmical framework that contains punching drums and whirring sequencers. Booming New Order-like basslines are being used as well as rock/wave-like guitar-chords, filigree samples and playful electronic structures. On top of that a prominent male voice, once slightly aggressive, often beseeching and tender, sometimes melancholic. This results in a mixture that - besides the danceability and the precise electronic style - offers stunning melodies and one catchy tune after the other. PitchBlack Inc. is intelligent electro with an emotional draught. Shining bright and fascinating as a star in the nightsky. Whether german or english lyrics. Whether falling back on the Cyperpunk Guru Kenji Siratori or on Ideal's "Erschießen". Whether thoughtful or ironic. Whether danceable or dreamy. Using emotion and sounds, Schanz/Bernstein always create an independent, artistic universe of electronic music. We can only hope that they still haven’t said it all. "Alles ist gesagt" will be released by Ionium Records on 1st November 2010 and is the perfect soundtrack for the upcoming winter evenings. You can make it yourself comfortable at home under your headphones or simply go out into the club and dance the darkness away.
