"Hate Culture" - William Control's debut album - was released in 2008. The story of the album is about a man named William Control. He wishes to kill himself and it should be his last night on earth. The new album's 3rd song "All due restraint" continues where "Hate Culture" ended. William wakes up in London... And I am simply impressed. Yes! I discovered the songs on the album, every single one, step by step - and with discover I really mean discover! Skeptical while listening to them the first time, uncertain while listening the second time, fascinated and full of different emotions after listening 3rd time. Well, well... I really don't know when a release arouse my enthusiasm that way. Every single song on the album is unique. The songs together paint immediately pictures in your mind. At the beginning I was irritated how many different elements are used in songs like "All due restraint","My lady dominate" or "Ultrasound". But they all together make the songs so special and powerful. Would you remove one single element, the songs wouldn't be that perfect as they are, they would just sound chaotic. The way how he set the tempo and change it is magnificent. And it works. On the opposite we find songs like "Can't help falling in love" (an Elvis cover) and "Soliloquy", Wil's striking voice just accompanied by an acoustic guitar and background singer. "Noir"- just voice and piano, beautiful. The word "just" becomes a different meaning here. In despite of all differences the whole album is one unit, the lyrics speak for themselves - how would you interpret them? All the things that keep us going, they force us to the ruin but make our lifes also worth living. Decide yourself... Love?, sex, sorrow, drugs, fear, joy, pain, power, money, loniless. Everybody hates, nobody loves... With 46 minutes total playtime the album seems too short, I hope there will follow a part 3 soon. I don't want to be impudent, but Wil: we want more! To summarize: Lively, powerful, sad, tragic, dark, incomparable and always a bit theatrical tells every song its own story. Sensitive closeness. Little musical short movies on a fantastic album. Mental.
