There have already been a lot of reviews of the latest album by this Swedish EBM trio. If you want to check them out they’re all on their Facebook page. Basically they say that Autodafeh sound like Front 242, And One, Nitzer Ebb and Die Krupps with a bit of Project Pitchfork thrown in for good measure. That this is sort of a tribute album to their influences. Well do you know what – who cares? They’re all great bands – bands we like, so is that a bad thing? The funniest comment posted by one of their fans is “it blows my panties right off!!!” It mightn’t have quite managed that but it certainly put a smile on my face.

I listened to it as I was getting ready for a night out and it was perfect for getting me in the party mood. I was bopping and singing along as I put my warpaint on. As you probably know by now I’m a mad Rammstein fan and this album sounds a bit like Rammstein on happy pills. I love the vocals – the accent – the “das” instead of the “thes” The sort of lyrics that can rhyme “bubble” with “trouble” give you a clue to the tone of the whole album. Autodafeh want us to have fun, get up and dance our boots off.

There are 10 new songs on here – you definitely get value for money. There is not one song I don’t like. The album starts off dancy and gets even more so as it goes on. I certainly haven’t heard a happier “Killer” than this. “Land of Nothing” - sounds like it’s going to be depressing? Well no – it’s anything but. “Wheel of Faith” is a real stomper with driving drums and keyboards. But the best by far is “Promises” - faster beats, a bit more Future Pop. If this one doesn’t get you up on the dance floor it’s time to hang up your goggles. The last 2 songs are remakes from their earlier albums and listening to this makes me want to go and buy them.
