Ok – short and sweet -I love this album! I can’t stop listening to it. 2 tracks are constantly stuck in my head (even in my dreams and I was singing them when I woke up this morning lol) “Rage” There are 2 versions on the CD – I listen to the original more than the remix though I love both and the remix is more atmospheric/heavier and will definitely pack club dance floors. I don’t know if it was intentional or not but this song just makes me think of Covenant’s “Ships to Port”. Which is good because like many of you that’s one of my all time favourite songs. I instantly found myself singing along to the catchy lyrics. “Counted Sorrows” This is a remix – the original was on the “Halflife” album. This is my favourite track from the CD. The throbbing, pulsing bassline and synth just do it for me – “replay button?” – yes please!
Now what’s interesting about this album is that there 2 types of songs. It’s not all pure dance tracks. “Tragic”, “Forever Lost” and “Memories of You” are slower, sadder songs. They are about loss of love & relationships. “Forever Lost” was written about a friend who died. Even “The Last Kiss” is about saying goodbye, though it’s more upbeat. “Sad EBM?” you say.Yeah the first time I listened I wondered too, but they are real growers and David’s vocals really suit the music. They are remarkably dancey for such sorrowful subjects.(Just don’t listen to them if you’re too depressed lol)
Back to dance: “Liquid State” This is another one I really like. The synth and distorted vocals just take me back to 80’s electro pop. I can’t help but bop my head along to the beat which is a bit embarrassing when I’m sneakily listening in work. “Symbiotic” Fast and upbeat. Not as stand out as the others but still good. “Lust” Now what can I say about this that can be published? I like it. A happy poppy tune with interesting lyrics and a nice rhythm. (in other words a good song to have sex to!) So to sum up – treat yourself and buy this CD.
I’m giving 4 out of 5 stars as some of you might not be as keen on the slower songs.
