This is the second self-released album from this British-duo, and one that nicely leads on from the release of their promising debut Alternate Realties, released in April 2009. There are fourteen-tracks featured here, including two additional remixes in Forever Dancing (Perpetual Motion Edit) & Light Up My Life (Shadow Mix), both (un-remixed) tracks where originally released as a double a-sided digital-single in April 2009. This is another album that musically follows on from their excellent debut, and one that continues to feature a heavy Vince Clarke influence combined with the soft, light and dreamy vocals provided by Bridget Gray, while its also noticeable (and without taking anything away from Alternate Realities) that there is a stronger feel to the album itself, with tracks like the more mid-paced Say, which moves along nicely, and the more up-tempo pace and sharp synths of Behind Closed Doors being an obvious example of this, and at that, two of the more outstanding tracks, these combine with the equally strong, and mid-paced style of both No Mercy & Talk To Me, while the slow to mid-paced instrumental, and ballad-like Pulse also stands out, while also featuring some great synth sounds, all do, the absence of vocals is something of a shame, further to this, there is the ballad-like feel to Touch (Ribbons Around My Heart), its slow-pace moves it along nicely as it combines with the soft and light vocals, or the mid-paced Piano Softly which almost bounces along as it builds well to its chorus, also excellent is the mid-paced edge of both Atmosphere & Better In Music with its rippling synths, along with a harder mid-paced edge coming through on both One Day Closer & Heaven, while the mid-pace feel continues on Inside Your Mind, which flows along nicely, briefly picking-up pace on it’s chorus. Regarding the remixes, there is a steady mid-paced edge to Light Up My Life, which moves along nicely, while there is a more solid up-tempo pace to the excellent Forever Dancing which builds well to a strong chorus on an excellent album that continues the promise of their debut. © DK
