Doktryn is a dark/electro band from Paris made up of Julien & Stephane. Their website boasts “Nothing else to say…enjoy or die” Well thankfully I’m not doing to die just yet cos I love every one of the 4 songs on this self- released EP. Julien describes their songs as “the combination of modern electronic musical elements and dark provocative, depressive (but honest in some way) lyrics” and says he is “very keen on the sounds of the early industrial bands” I describe them as: Till Lindemann meets Combichrist, in France.

Julien was very affected by the film “Taxi Driver”, in particular the main character Travis Bickle. Two of the songs are inspired by this. Both feature original dialogue from the film.

“All you need is love” is heavy, pounding & aggressive. The vocals veer from electro to rasping – almost like the devil is singing. “Taxi Driver” - imagine a dancey film trailer with the voice over describing the film, interspersed with dialogue. “AIDS” - growling Till style vocals. “Does he talk to you?” – the fastest song which will go down a storm in underground clubs. It sounds like your friendly local demon preacher giving a sermon.
