There’s a lot of talent here, matched by a thirst to try different types of sound, but these guys don’t have the discipline to take any of the many ideas they try in a single song and develop them into full entities in their own right. While variety is the spice of life, you’ve got to space it out properly and take one thing at a time before moving onto the next item on the list. “The Ignorance of Purity” opens up with some fancy guitar work before “Weight of the Wretched” shoots straight for the stage performance while giving itself breathers every so many sentences but keeps things at a frantic pace in the last minute. “Hope Bleeds into Despair” lets the treble go up as it works out a few issues by means of cathartic playing. “Black Heart” trashes about but seems to lack coherency overall in its eagerness to try as many different sounds as possible. “To The Death” suffers a similar problem, but does play around with treble and reverb quite a bit to good effect.
