In between the vocals take a lot from David Bowie, the guitar takes the front to show and the seriousness of bands of a more Independent leaning, these guys are going to places with their sound. I mean, you don’t run into stuff as well made as this from the Indie Rock circuit every day.
“Halo” is pensive Indie guitar playing swung round for the 21st Century. “Rain Stopped Play” cascades steadily down a hill and loving every second of it. “Ripples” sound like proper Bowie with gnarly guitar and real rock ‘n Roll drums. “Ship of Fools” (This isn’t a cover of the Covenant song, in case you were wondering) croons away over life and misanthropy.
It’s in the vein of the Thin White Duke himself, but far enough from the original
material not to be considered derivative.
