Its seems somewhat ironic that with the emergence and success of another Australian Synth Pop duo in recent years, it has also somewhat unintentionally so pushed aside fellow Australian Synth Pop duo Neuropa who returned last-July to release this, their sixth studio-album, and at that their first in three-years, doing so as part of the Limited-Edition VIP subscription series the American Electro Pop label A Different Drum set-up last-year with 300 copies being made available on CD for each separate release. There is a full thirteen-tracks on offer here that continue with the bands distinctive brand of eighties-influenced Electronic Pop, including a number of highlights, from the likes of the somewhat similar pace and style on The Futurist, to the title-track Plastique People which moves along nicely, the slow to mid-paced Concrete Fields which builds into a strong and solid chorus, likewise with Chromakey. Further tracks of note include the up-tempo and solid rhythm of In The Silence, complete with an acoustic bass on a strong-track in-general, to the strong solid up-tempo pace of Das Beat Industrialle, complete with a driving crashing rhythm and what sounds like the addition of a guitar, to the mid-paced Fashion War and Modern Talking, complete with an additional metallic rhythm, while there is a slow to mid-paced feel on Save Us, which features the addition of some good synth sounds, to a more up-tempo feel and crashing rhythm on You Feel The Same. Finally, there is a mid-paced instrumental in Catalyst, with its solid bass and crashing rhythms, it also has a somewhat moody overtone to it, while the similar mid-pace style of Darkness Remains has something of an acoustic feel, no doubt due largely to the present of the more Goth-style guitar and acoustic bass, while the solid up-tempo Nothing Like You features a gritty guitar that somewhat predictably sounds out of place on the album itself, an album which despite featuring a number of tracks that in-part didn’t particularly appeal to me, is also one that largely continues to follow their previous work in being another strong solid and excellent album.
