Open your mind for a new perspective. Psy’Aviah are back to guide your way. Their fourth studion record “Introspection/Retrospection” will
challenge you to discover new horizions of electronical music. Founded in 2003 in Beglium the band has set new standards ever since.
Fearless and innovatively they are mixing different styles and breaking boundaries. With their lastest release the band stick to their
diversity. A manifold, mulitlayer ride through the world of electronic beats and beyond.
The opener “SOS Overdose” is a classical EBM track (“SOS Overdose”) that gets you in the right mood. Preparing for upcoming songs. Typical elements like eager shouted vocals combined with stomping beats are blended with melodic, technoid synthesizers. Similar arrangements can be found in “Virtual Gods” or “Human Garbage”. But before “Procedure to Mistrust” followes up and gives a glimpse of the sparkling varity. Changing over from a monotone, thrilling drum machine to a danceable, catchy piano rythmn. The electro-pop voice of female singer Emélie Nicolaï goes flawless along with the beat, creating a moody atmosphere and spreading electronic pleasures. Its her dominating vocals that stand above all songs and impact every single one: Pushing forward or holding back. Being distant and synthetic like on “The worst in me” or whispering quietly, softly in your ear like on “On my own”. Musically it differs between uptempo dancetracks and balladesk hymns like “OK” and “Song of Independence”. Psy’Aviah don’t hestitate reconstruct established genres, picking out famous parts and then building up their own impression of modern techno-rave, dark electro or synthpop. Additional collaborations extend their range even more. Different components like dual, competetive voices (“Home” feat. Lis van Akker, less on “Deep dark desire” feat. Kari Berg) or influences of rap (“Nouveau Quiche” feat. MC Dééjoohcéé & Thomas Beerten) intertwine beautifully. The CD includes also a cover version of SHAKIRA’s “Timor”. The band twist the original into a melodic-industrial clubtrack. Overall it’s astonishing how the single songs differs from each other, but still forming a perfect, harmonic line of homogeneity on the whole album. They clearly lift up the level of modern, electro productions and brings in a unique freshness.
In the limited edition the album is completed by a second disc (“Retrospection”). It features twelve more remixes extended by the various interpretations of the collaborating artists. First of all the impressive list of dancefloor experts like “NOISUF-X“, „RADICAL G“, „SAM“ or FREAKANGEL. No fillers, just killers. Next to this Psy’Aviah asked selected musicians not only to participate with a simple remix but to create an own cover version. MISERY, Hartung & Schleinitz and CHAOS ALL STARS took the competition aswell as LEAETHER STRIP, who even came up with own lyrics on “SOS Overdose”.

After all, the 2-disc limited edition just belongs to a good collection of electronic music. Narrow-minded people: stay away. All the rest: go and get it.
