The fourth-album from this Swedish-duo, and one that features eleven-tracks of their somewhat distinctive brand of Electronic Pop, complete with it’s heavy Kraftwerk influence that’s combines well with the stark, unique and completely dehumanized vocoder vocals, while with the exception of a couple of more up-tempo tracks, there is similar style present here that runs through the majority of the tracks with a steady mid-paced rhythm combining with some good, sharp synths with the afore mentioned vocals, at times, you could be listening to a Kraftwerk album, least not on one of the highlights here in the excellent Common Sense, a more slow to mid-paced track that bounces along with its sharp synths, while equally excellent are the likes of the strong, solid mid-paced rhythm of The Beginning Of The End, its additional metallic percussion, rolling bass and sharp synths make it one of the more distinctive sounding Kraftwerk based tracks here, the final-track Endnotes, a slow and stark track with a somewhat dark and bleak feel combines well with its sharp synths, and least not, the afore mentioned vocals which work best on tracks like this, while the equally bleak, but, mid-paced Supremacy combines well with its cold synths and heavy vocoder-vocals, to the more up-tempo Adapt And Overcome which bounces along nicely, while again building-up to its chorus. Beyond these tracks, there is the more up-tempo pace and crashing rhythms of Pitch Black to the equally up-tempo, and solid beat of Inheritance with its sharp synths it bounces along nicely, while there is a steady, but, slow to mid-paced beat that rolls along nicely on True Loyalty, complete with its sharp Trance-like synths, In Your Heart features a shifting mid-paced to up-tempo rhythm, there is an almost minimal up-tempo feel and pace to You Or Me (Nemesis), complete with a steady rolling bass and a neat lead synth along with the mid-paced For You. Despite the fact that the vocals can at-times be somewhat repetitive, this is a strong and consistent album that doesn’t fail to deliver, nor disappoint, and one that also features an interesting lyrical content. © DK
