The Prodigy - "World's On Fire "

Release date: 23.05.2011 | Label: Cooking Vinyl | CD/DVD SET

7/10 (*for the CD part, the DVD is 10/10)

Christened after a synthesiser owned by Liam Howlett, Prodigy began their first release in 1991. The Essex breaded Alt rock Electronica has now sprung into a 25million+ record selling success. Being alive for over twenty years, with current members Keith Flint and Maxim, the band released ‘Worlds on Fire’ CD/DVD, featuring the whole of the Milton Keynes ‘Warriors Dance’ concert and various clips from their 2010 tour.

The British weaponry firm of music descended on Milton Keynes to let everybody in the place feel their law drop down to the bass and rise to the rhythm. With the quick intro played in with ‘Breathe’ with the addition of guitars the crowd of 65,000 instantly becomes fuelled. Primed through nearing mid set, ‘Firestarter’ set in to let us blast back to the underground 90s combined in with the later stages of ‘Weather Experience’ and ‘Voodoo People’.

Coming to the end of the show they end with ‘Their Law’ symbolising ‘Music for the Jilted Generation’ and the response the album had against the banning of raves in 1994 and therefore criminalizing rave music. Finally closing with ‘Out of Space’ from the band’s first album release, it marks an end to the 20 years of music.

Prodigy are indeed excellent at firing up the crowd and hold still the place given to them in 2002 by ‘Q Magazine’ as one of 50 bands to see before you die. Though unfortunately with most live or indeed any live album there is one major flaw, it can never beat the live experience.
