Italy’s in a brink of pain; money means everything or nothing, whereas music stays in its foremost position of being lethal nectar to our smiles. Within the realms of this fallen Roman Empire, loom two figures merged in a layer of stygian fabric. Holding firmly in their wrists a leash, that trails to an object planted with keys of white and black. Impregnated with wheels and knobs that when turned on, jilt sound into our eardrums that make us fall slave to it; and all we can do is smile and shift one’s body to the rhythm. ‘Marko Resurreccion’ and ‘Marco Visconti’

With XP8 the main concern was in 2010, ‘The Lord’ had in an interview with Neuwelt telling us that the band had lost their studio, so when a new album would come out seemed a big unknown. Though here is ‘A Decade of Decadence a commemoration to their 10 years of activating Italy and keeping the switch turned on. The two Marco’s have made a radical production covering the whole time line of the synthetic combinations of their project, combined with a future feeling in certain tracks and others which bring you back to the past or forward to the future. ‘Kolja Trelle’ of ‘Soman’ did his part… Mastering the frequencies in his viral ways, as he himself can be given his own place in the reason for our world’s electronic body slathering.

Chemical reactions occur within ‘Burning Down’ hitting those high key XP8 known notes in the chorus. The same tone lapses into ‘Fragility’ with a slightly slower pulse. ‘Wake Up’ has that blunt hitting of the keys oxidising the brain with 135 beats per minute that fluctuates in and out of trance to statement, the same can be said about ‘The Wound That Won't Heal’ and here it ends in the drain of scars. ‘Trip (feat. Stewart Who?)’ lays in “a confusion is trip” feeling, as the album reverts into distortion with a blunt yet soft voice being heard. Softer impulses take place within ‘Decadence’, though it still keeps you moving forward into the remixes of previous ‘XP8’ club hits. ‘Bullet Hole’ I shifted to being the last song to talk about due to its unguarded synthetic effect. It really made our dear writer think of their earlier experiments in ‘Forgive[n]’. Having the bio human girl on their artwork come to life in a contemporary Black & White scene where she starts to dance. Why that? Because the static electronic build up that only your arms feel, when you alone know your body feels and wants to be part of that song.

‘A Decade of Decadence’ is a mark of another entry into the veterans of the electronic alternative scene. Combined with their two included music videos ‘The Art of Revenge’ and ‘The God Particle’ the album is a flavoursome way to end the script.

XP8... Still making sins to expatriate..
